Upon the invitation of the President of the RAVI Foundation, on Wednesday 9th October, the Director of the Regional Office of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), Mr. DOMENICO BRUZZONE, visited the RAVI Foundation’s headquarters for a work session. Mr DOMENICO BRUZZONE was accompanied by Her Excellency Joséphine OUEDRAOGO/GUISSOU, Ambassador of Burkina Faso to the Republic of Italy.

The President of the RAVI Foundation, Mr. A. Salam OUEDRAOGO, and his collaborators were delighted by this visit.

Mr. Salam A. OUEDRAOGO, President of the RAVI Foundation first presented the RAVI Foundation, the VA Vision, and the different concepts of the Vision, as well as the operational approaches.

He then explained that one (01) year after the official launch of the VA VISION, under the sponsorship of the authorities of Burkina Faso, the Foundation is still in the process of gathering financial resources for the implementation of projects in promising sectors, led by young people and women of Burkina Faso.

The Director of the Regional Office of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), noted that the RAVI Foundation’s strategy of helping young people and women remain in their native places and developping, is perfectly in line with the types of projects that Italian cooperation favours and supports.

The Office Director was interested in the RAVI Foundation about:

-The sources of funding for this ambitious project and our initiative,
-The approximate number of young people and women trained ;
-The number of operational businesses created and the possible cases of failure and their causes, which needs to be cared for.
-The number of people trained and awaiting the creation of their businesses.
-The governmental departments with which the foundation is in partnership in the course of its activities.

At the end of the discussions, the two bodies expressed their mutual satisfaction with the results of this first meeting and agreed to hold a meeting very soon to discuss the eventual involvement of the RAVI Foundation in current and future projects.

As for Her Excellency Joséphine OUEDRAOGO/GUISSOU, she followed with interest the exchanges between the two bodies and gave wise advice to the President of the Foundation with a focus on improving the effective participation of young people and women in the development of their native places.

The meeting ended with a visit to the hatchery unit and agricultural laboratories on the Foundation’s site, which illustrate the model of deployment of the VA Vision in the field.
